Position: South African Clinical Manager (Physician)

ELG FZE on behalf of FrontierMEDEX is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced South African Physicians to support a large, prestigious oil company in Southern Iraq. The successful applicant will join a team of FrontierMEDEX expatriate and local national personnel to provide 24/7 clinic management and medical support. With the ultimate aim of nationalising the workforce, a strong bias will be placed on developing mentoring and training programmes for local national physicians, managed and executed by the Clinical Manager.
A large part of the Clinical Manager’s role will be to mentor and teach local national physicians, which requires diplomacy and patience and a good cultural awareness to work with differing nationalities. In addition, the Clinical Manager will provide medical assistance to all health care professionals on site, designing and managing Medical Emergency Response Plans (MERPs) and evacuations in and out of country. The Clinical Manager is solely responsible for the medical oversight for all field activity.
With a well-equipped trauma centre on site, the successful candidate must have operational experience with apparatus such as ultrasound and x-ray machines, cardiac monitors and laboratory testing equipment.
The successful doctor must have excellent primary, emergency and occupational health skills with a pragmatic, solution focused approach to medical management.
Experience/Qualifications
Previous remote site experience is advantageous
Minimum of five years' post medical qualification work experience
Previous clinical teaching/mentoring experience
Current registration/licence to practice
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification
Emergency experience
Occupational health experience
Experience in the review and implementation of a Medical Emergency Response Plan
High levels of health and fitness
Computer literate
Enhanced interpersonal and communication skills, including fluency in English language
