Job Summary:
The HGV Mechanic is responsible to ensure the successful and high quality repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment associated with it.
Responsibilities:
•Performing routine checks and maintenance of the heavy vehicle / heavy equipment
•Operate equipment associated with the heavy vehicle such as loader mechanisms, servicing and fitting
•Providing preventative Maintenance and repairs to heavy trucks and trailers, and performing inspections and safeties
•Carrying out routine maintenance, service and repair on a variety of HGV of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and air brake systems
•Following all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
•Following all relevant safety, and environmental control procedures and instructions & maintain a safe and clean work area, and be able to perform in a fast paced environment.
Qualifications:
•Post qualification HGV workshop experience in heavy goods vehicle repairs and maintenance are absolutely essential
•Must be a certified Petrol or Diesel mechanic. Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician)
•Possess a strong technical background and have excellent knowledge of effective quality control methods.
