Waste Water Treatment Plants Technician
Qualifications:

Extensive and broad experience in the area of septic tanks or waste water treatment technology operation & maintenance, water distribution, pumps functionality, electrical connections and subsurface waste water operations.

Educational Requirements: 
High school graduation or equivalent and a diploma in Engineering.

Training and certification in civil works & sewerage, plumbing or Electrical is a plus.
Valid Kenyan Driver’s License

Reports to: Engineer
Essential Job Functions:
  •     Transportation and installation of waste water treatment plants (WWTP) equipment to and at site.
  •     Must have working knowledge of requirements for locating underground utilities before excavation.
  •     Plumbing and pump connections for the WWTP system.
  •     Electrical connections of the control panel and pumps to mains power supply.
  •     Carrying out modifications during installation as per site requirements.
  •     Installation of grease traps.
  •     Perform inspection of pumps, blowers, and plumbing connections to determine that all machinery is operating properly; perform minor adjustments to equipment as well as clean and lubricate to ensure machinery is maintained in good working order. Read and Follow operators manuals and perform applicable operator maintenance tasks.
  •     Collecting water samples for chemical testing and working with water meters for flow rates to be tested.
  •     Maintains records and documentation to be used for monthly reports as well as financial reporting. Documents include job cards/ task sheets, materials issue notes, delivery notes, milage books etc.
  •     Reporting comprehensively and precisely on the status of WWTP at site upon every visit.
  •     Monitors and responds to failure notifications by clients on WWTP as instructed by the engineer.
  •     Monitors sludge accumulation of the waste water treatment plant, proper pumping and removal of sludge and grease.
  •     Responds to after hour emergencies as requested.
  •     Maintains professional certifications by attendance at training classes and workshops.
  •     Professional and disciplined driving of departmental vehicle to site.
  •     Monitoring and reporting of faults, maintenance requirements of the vehicle to administration and operations manager.
  •     Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  •     Work in this classification is considered heavy physical and one must be able to:
  •     Walk , lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch
  •     Work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards and atmospheric conditions
  •     Safely work in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized personal protective equipment
  •     Use visual acuity required for depth perception and color perception
  •     Visually inspect small defects and/or small parts
  •     Use a variety of measuring devices
  •     Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment and tools
  •     Determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work
  •     Observe general surroundings and activities
