Duties and responsibilities
• Tele-sales and cargo canvassing
• Securing meetings and booking appointments for the field sales team
• Soliciting and negotiating rates from airlines and shipping lines
• Coordination booking and documentation for export with airlines and shipping lines
• Raising job cards, LPO’s and arranging payment of third party charges such as freight and break-bulk.
• Tracking of shipments and consequently updating the clients with the status.
• Spearheading corporate responsibility activities.
• Conducting customers’ surveys.
• Handling customers’ complaints
• Handling receivable revenues through receipting and banking.
• Liaising with Mombasa office for all Nairobi related business and customers
• Attending stakeholders meetings and representing the company as may be required
• Any other official duty as may be delegated.
Competencies;
• Minimum academic qualification; diploma in shipping (FDS), Marketing, Public relations and or transport and logistics.
• Minimum experience; two years in a busy freight firm, clearing and forwarding, shipping line, airline or handling facilities such as CFS and customs sheds.
• Good in both written and spoken communication in the national languages. Foreign language is an added advantage.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Key Performance Areas.
➢ Respond to inquiry within thirty minutes for local and an hour for international.
➢ Provide daily shipment status to clients’.
➢ Ensure clients are giving pre-alert three days of shipment arrival for airfreight and seven days for sea freight
➢ Provide proof of delivery to nominating agent same day the shipment is received by the consignee.
➢ Make minimum of ten calls daily to clients.
➢ Book at least two field appointments per day to each sales team member.
➢ Bank the received revenue same day as given by the client.
➢ Generate marketing report by 5th day of each month.
